Thailand, with a crazy tuk-tuk-driver in the lead role.Arriving in Asia gave us a bit of a cultureshock after dealing with easygoing aussiepeople. Of course big, busy Bangkok had a good time with us, and our camera somehow got stolen! On the train northh to Chiang Mai is where we devastated realized the fact that it was gone. Well well, these things can happen and thats why one get insurence.

Chiang Mai is also a busy city, but on a much smaller scale than its brother down south. We had bought a package from a travelagency, and included there was a dinner. We thought it was just a dinner at the hotel, but of course not. We were shipped off to a traditional thairestaurant were we were served traditional thaifood and entertainment! Thai traditional dances we after a while got quite fond of, and they were actually quite alike the universal childrensgames "bridge bridge glasses", "tup and the little mother", "clap clap sweet" and "5 meter long macaroni"!

We did a 3 day trek in Doi Inthanon National Park. Walking in the jungel was nice, but very dry. Since this time of year still is summer everything was crisp dry. We were a small group of 5 people including the guide. The first night we spent by a waterfall sleeping in bamboohuts. In the morning we discovered that rats had eaten our bread, which was lying next to Christian. Bugger! The second night we spent in a hilltribe village. The village consisted of 40 persons and all their animals - pigs and poultry - in free harmony. In these birdflutimes the scepticism was high, ecspecially with the one female in the group. After a while we loosend up and managed to enjoy the time there. In the beginning we didnt feel welcome, but after being served dinner by the villagepeople and showned wildernestricks it was better. We got to taste wild honey, and one of the young men tried to teach us how to play his instrument which he had made. The funny thing was that he could only play one song, but instead he made different songtexts. And one of the songs was actually a mix of "no money no honey" and "no woman no cry", and he also had his version of "Old McDonald had a farm"! In other words it became a quite interesting stay.
The last day of the trek we hopped on the elephants for a walk, and then took a bamboorafting. All very nice.

Back in Chiang Mai we got a new camera and for our poor feet we treated them with a nice footmassage at the price of 16Nkr(US$2,6!)
