Land ho Sailor!

As the rabbit said 'Im in a hurry' and rushed along to beat the turtle to the finish... Well so are we. After spending almost a week in Cairns, suddenly we discovered that we were in a hurry. Big thanks to Fiona and Duncan that gave us some vouchers, cause we had to go to a travel agency to book the rest of Australia right away.

We had planned to go to the Whitsundays to do some sailing and snorkeling, so we booked a trip on the S/V Habibi out from Airlie Beach. This was actually a boat that looked like it had been run over by a large school of elephants. Rust all over. Cramped space and practically nowhere to sit. This was topped off with a crew, not able to thred a piece of string through a needle. I’m making this sound horrible, yes, but the vessel was ready to sink any minute.

Now for the good things. On the boat we got the master's cabin, a small room with a queen's sized bed and a small couch, lets call it a chillout longe. The others were stacked unto too small beds right ontop of eachother. No complaints here. The first day we sailed to a small haven and camped there for the night.

Enter the Irish blokes!... A group of sunburned people dressed in white socks and sportsgear, with pimples and armed with more beer than any human beeing possibly could drink in two days also was along on this trip. To make a long story short, they sang and drank almost the whole night through.

The second day we went to Whitehaven, a world heritage site, and listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And with that said, we see no reason to doubt that. Totally magnificent we must say. From there we hit a good snorkeling spot and had to dress up in our Charlie's Angles outfits for the second time. These suits was to protect us from the boxed jellyfish that roam the coasts of Australia these days. A lovelly sight we must add.

The final day we went back to Airlie Beach and with a quick rinse in the lagoon in Airlie we were on our bus ready for another 12 hour busride. This to take us to Rainbow beach where we were to start our Frasier Island safari.
