Dingoes, Italiano, Slovakians and lots of sand

The day before departing to Frasier Island we got divided into groups and we ended up in a Toyota LandCruiser with three Italians and two girls from Slovakia. This making us the total of seven dwarfes that did shopping in the local foodstore in Rainbow. We were up for an early start to get to Frasier Island and all seven dwarfes was eager to get a great stay on the sandy island of Frasier.
We hit the road and safely found our way to the land of sand, dingoes, spiders and other nasties inhabiting Frasier. It does pay to have a wee look at the map, so one have a slight sense on where to go but the three male dwarfes from Italy made us go with the flow. First we saw Lake Mckenzie, a beautiful lake, probably one of the clearest lakes in the whole world. We have to admit that we use the sentence 'in the whole world' a lot, but its not us showing off, its just the truth. From there we kept on driving south on the island and had a great time. When we decided to make camp it was alredy too dark to do any looking for a good campspot, so we had to take the first and best. Actually, the first. For dinner today we planned to have a bbq, but at this spot there where nowhere to grill our meat, so we had to fry it on the stove provided by the rentalcompany. Well, beer and wine saves every mood and all were happy campers in between big bugs and dingoes.
Hey ho, hey ho and to the beach we go. Driving on the beach is a totally new experience for poor Norwegians, but any car equipped with a snorkel will take you almost anywhere. We started off pretty early to make the most of the second day and we drove all the way up to a point called Indian Head. Here we swam in the Champagne Pools, pools made 'on the rocks' filled with seawater. The waves crash onto the rocks and fill the the pools with bubbling fresh seawater. Just like swimming in yep, Champagne. From there we headed back north, since this was the southernmost point we were insured, and headed in to the rainforest. This is a place where you don’t bring; eggs, glass, or anything that you hold dear and care for. Because this makes a bumpy ride sound like a walk in the park. Our internal organs was shaken to the extent of madness, and the crazy italian driving our 4X4 had to be slightly out of his mind. “We made it through the wilderness, somehow we made it through. Didn't know how lost I was until I found you”. So we found our way back out of the jungle and the italian dwarfes had this brilliant idea to make us all stop for a coffee. Brilliant. The 15 minute stop ended up in being a one and a half hour stop, making it too late to find a decent spot for the camp. This meant that we had to devide the group into two, one to make dinner (the italians) and the rest had to drive in the pitch black night to find a camping spot. Not an easy task I'll tell you. Anyhow the three foodmaking dwarfes made a beautiful tuna pasta and the tents somehow found a place bu the beach. We saw spiders, dingoes and drank the rest of the wine and beer, leaving us again as a happy crowd.
The final day we went back to Lake Mckenzie and had a refreshing dip, and drove back where the barge were to pick us up. We were five in the car when Christian drove it onto the barge, two of thw italians were walking on the shoreline and in an instant we were at sea and the two last dwarfes were stranded at Frasier. At this point we feel entitled to say 'Italians... Vaffanculo!' Hopefully they starved to death. We have to finish off this post by saying that we have kept the names of the italian dwarfes secret to protect the innocent. We had the best time on Frasier and would gladly go with Luca, Ruben(s) (Barrichello), Francesco, Sylvia and Jana on another trip to the sandy Island. We almost forgot to mention that we damaged the rentalcar for over 145 dollars, refused to admit that we did it and got away with 40 dollars.
